Q: What are "Background Actors?"
A: Background Actors, also called Extras, are the actors you see on television and in films that work in a nonspeaking capacity.
Q: What is "SAG/AFTRA?"
A: SAG/AFTRA is the Union for actors in the Entertainment Industry. To join SAG/AFTRA as a background actor, you must first work three days on SAG vouchers to be eligible for membership. For info on how to join SAG/AFTRA please visit their website.
Q: Are you affiliated with SAG/AFTRA?
A: We are not affiliated with or associated with SAG/AFTRA in any way.
Q: Are you an Agency?
A: No, we are a Talent Management Company that works with Casting Directors who are looking for talent on their commercial projects.
Q: Is there a conflict if I already have an Agent or Manager?
A: There is no conflict but we do recommend you confirm with your Agent and/or Manager that it is OK to have you work background jobs before you register with us.
Q: Are there any hidden fees?
A: No, we only commission 15% of each job that the casting directors book you on through Elite Kids Talent.
Q: Is there a contract I have to sign?
A: Yes there is a contract that can be terminated at any time by either party.
Q: Can I be registered with other background companies at the same time?
A: We are OK with it but there are other companies out there that are not. Please check with each company you are registered with first before signing up with us.
Q: What if I am Non-Union?
A: We do register select Non-Union talent. We encourage Non-Union talent to send us his or her photo. SAG/AFTRA commercials occasionally do book Non-Union actors, and we here at EKT can help you get on these commercials. We also have a lot of Non-Union commercials and occasional TV shows and feature films requesting Non-Union actors.
Q: Can you guarantee work?
A: There is no way to guarantee work due to the unpredictability of the entertainment business, but we don't charge monthly or yearly fees like other background companies. You only pay us if you work.
